Our second update brings a new effect type, rudimentary VFX support and more!
New Things
- ADDED BASIC VFX SUPPORT
Each skill can now display one or more visual effects automatically derived from the unit and action type. - ADDED BARRIER EFFECTS
Barrier effects can block, absorb, store, convert and reflect incoming damage and other effect types. This is by far the most complicated effect category in the game and we’re super stoked to see it working. Yatta! - ADDED UNIT RARITIES
Each unit is now assigned a rarity value between 1 and 3. It serves no gameplay function yet, but we aim to use this feature to balance stronger units by giving them a higher deployment cost. - ADDED BASIC GEAR SUPPORT
Each unit can now equip up to three pieces of gear which provide various stat bonuses. This paves the way for gear sets, which will allow you to grant a unit a third skill of your choosing.
Changes
- CLASSIFIED ALL EFFECTS
Each effect is now classified as a buff, debuff or neutral effect. This makes status effects much more recognizable at a glance while opening up interesting effect interactions that only work towards one classification. - IMPROVED EDITOR CONTROLS
All effect attributes can now be adjusted directly inside the Unity editor, making character creation a much easier process. - COMBAT IS A LOT FASTER
We’ve doubled the playback speed of combat to make our debugging lives easier. We’ll make this a feature eventually, so you’ll be able to adjust the playback speed of battles as well.
